Tom Lewis
Founder and President
Tom had a vision one day while helping his daughter, an opioid addict, seek work. She expressed overwhelming feelings of loss, isolation and hopelessness because of the difficulties of obtaining reliable transportation. Even if she was successful in being hired, she had no idea how she would get to work. The buses, friends and family that could help were not always available, reliable or on-time. If she was late or a no show, she could be fired. “What’s the point?!” His daughter would give up and start using again. This is the cycle for so many people in addiction. Transportation is key not only to get to a job, but also to get to other appointments, often including court mandated appearances. For example, If you don’t show to your court appointment, a warrant is issued, and one is likely to end up in jail.
Tom saw the “gig” rideshare industry as a valuable untapped resource to bridge this need. The benefit of this industry is that the access is immediate, 3 to 5 minutes in most cases. The opportunity to provide transportation to help motivated individuals in recovery using the immediate, plentiful resources found in the rideshare industry was so obvious. Now, at our 5-year mark, we have also have implemented a software program to create volunteer driver schedules.
Tom is a successful business entrepreneur of 50+ years in San Francisco and the general Bay Area. He has dedicated his career to preserving, restoring and renovating significant and historic architecture. Some of his favorite works include: Coit Tower, the S.F. City Hall, the War Memorial Veterans Building, Stanford University and UC Berkeley. A New England transplant, Tom has taken great pride in being a resident of the Bay Area.
This project brings forward a dream for Tom. One that is non-judgmental, hopeful and inspirational for those who find relief, joy and happiness in the recovery of ones’ true and authentic self. Restoring one soul at a time
